1. Our Commitment: Privacy by Design
Privacy Blur was conceived and engineered with a fundamental thesis: your photos, scans, and documents should never leave your possession. Unlike traditional cloud photo editing services that upload media to remote servers for processing, Privacy Blur executes all machine learning pipelines locally on your mobile device hardware.
2. Zero Data Collection & Zero Telemetry
Privacy Blur operates on a strict zero-knowledge, air-gapped model:
- No Image Uploads: Photos, scanned documents, and IDs selected in the application remain in local device memory (RAM) during processing and are never transmitted over any network socket.
- No Analytics or Tracking: We do not embed analytics SDKs, advertising beacons, behavioral trackers, or device fingerprinting libraries.
- No User Accounts: The app requires no login, email address, password, or profile creation.
- Binary EXIF Stripping: Exported files have all embedded metadata (GPS coordinates, camera serial numbers, capture timestamps) wiped completely.
3. Device Permissions & How They Are Used
Privacy Blur requests only the minimal permissions required to function:
- Photo & Media Access (`READ_MEDIA_IMAGES`): Used solely to allow you to select images from your gallery to redact and save sanitized outputs back to your device storage.
- Notifications (`POST_NOTIFICATIONS` - Optional): Used solely if you opt-in to scheduled local photo sanitization reminders or security tips. You can toggle or revoke this permission at any time in the app settings.
4. Third-Party Libraries & Google ML Kit
Privacy Blur utilizes on-device Google ML Kit models for face detection, text recognition (OCR), and barcode identification. These models are packaged directly within the application binary and run entirely offline without communicating image data to Google servers.
